Instructional Design & Performance-Focused Learning
Designing learning that turns mission-critical knowledge into confident, actionable performance.

About My Work
I design structured, performance-focused learning experiences that help translate complex information into clear, real-world application. With over 25 years of instructional experience, I prioritize clarity, intentional practice, and meaningful performance outcomes—not just content delivery.
As a retired U.S. Air Force Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), I trained and evaluated aircrew in mission-critical environments where precision was essential. That experience shaped how I approach learning design. I’ve seen firsthand how the right structure builds both confidence and competence. Today, I ensure every learning objective connects directly to the practical demands of performance.
Areas of Focus
- Performance-Centered Design – Designing from clearly defined performance expectations, not just content coverage.
- Scenario & Application-Based Learning – Moving learners from knowledge to action through realistic, decision-driven experiences.
- Experiential & Adult Learning Principles – Grounding instruction in how professionals actually learn and apply skills.
- Structured Practice & Reinforcement – Embedding intentional practice to strengthen retention and build confident execution.
- Visual Clarity & Systems Simplification – Translating complex systems into intuitive structures that accelerate understanding.
Currently
I am currently completing a Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology, where my studies explore skill retention and sustained performance in high-stakes professional environments. This academic work deepens my understanding of how learning translates into long-term capability—ensuring that outcomes are not only measurable but meaningful over time.
Alongside my graduate work, I continue to serve as a classroom instructor for aircrew in Omaha, Nebraska. Staying actively engaged in operational training keeps my design perspective grounded, allowing me to apply instructional theory in environments where performance expectations are real and immediate.
